1-2-1 Advice

  • Advice on local learning opportunities
  • Help to decide what course, venue, level or qualification will meet your needs
  • Confidential and impartial service
  • Support in how to use learning to work with and complement your life

Developing Skills

  • Range of opportunities to develop the skills you need for work or personal development
  • Workshops on confidence building stress management and job applications (CVs, forms and interviews)
  • English and Maths assessments and training opportunities

IT (Information Technology)

  • Specialist project to develop confidence in IT and to move people into further learning
  • Advice and learning options from 30 minute informal assessments to 4 week taster courses
  • Course matching service to help you onto the right course and qualification
Community
  • Some future prospects services are available in your community, with designated staff working in Acomb, Westfield and Tang Hall (Phone or e-mail for more information)

Funding

  • Help to research sources of funding for education and training
  • Advice around the impact of starting a course on benefits entitlement

Enrolment

Future Prospects offers a year round enrolment service on behalf of the city of York Council and York College.  The main enrolment times being June onwards for courses starting in September through to December and January for courses starting January through to July.

We enrol from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday (Monday telephone enrolment only)

How to Enrol
You can enrol by coming into Future Prospects, which is situated in the centre of town: 24 Swinegate (cash, cheque, credit or debit card payment available), or over the telephone (credit or debit card payment only) by calling 01904 634748 or 0800 834239.
Please note we do not accept cheques through the post.

Payments
Payments need to be taken at the time of enrolment to confirm your place on the course, if payment is not made you cannot be placed on the register.

Courses can also be paid for by instalments, which will be divided into four equal amounts, the first amount being paid for on enrolment and the remaining three will be set up by direct debit coming out the next three months.  Instalments for York College must be over £100 and for The City of York Council £50.

Please make sure you enrol onto the correct course as an admin fee maybe charged for cancellations or changes to your enrolment.

Reduced Fees
If you are in receipt of a means tested benefit then you may be entitled to a fee remission or could receive the course for free.  Over 60’s in receipt of the state pension and who are not working are also entitled to fee remissions on some of the courses.  Full time students and learners who are under the age of 19 could also be entitled to a reduced fee.
